One of the things one should know is when to shut the phone off. Based on the article in Reader’s Digest, one rule is to shut your phone off once a week, for at least one minute. Then, you can turn it off after that.

There are several reasons why you should restart your mobile device. Among the reasons for these are retaining memory, preventing crashes, running more smoothly, and prolonging battery life.

Bob Motamedi, a Los Angeles-based tech consultant, shared that when you close your apps, they are not totally closed. Your phone just put them into a state where it can be restarted faster.

“Now think about how many apps are open, slowly eating memory and battery power on the phone, and think about all those times you’ve thought that your phone drained entirely too fast that day,” Motamedi said.

When you restart your device, it clears open apps and memory leaks and gets rid of anything draining your battery. There are remnants in every update, page loaded, and the app installed or deleted. Sometimes these remnants are incompatible or improperly removed after installation or uninstallation but when you shut your phone off, you will eliminate most of these issues and your phone will work better. This will also help you preserve memory and prevent crashes.
