They are tiny data files that are written into your phone and other devices to help websites remember who you are. Cookies are similar to cache. However, you will not receive any notification prompting you to clean these.

They have good and bad effects. Cookies can keep you logged into a website so you don’t have to log in over and over again. However, they can also track you from site to site.

For iPhone users, here’s how you can clear your phone:

  • Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
  • When “Clear History and Data” pops up, tap it to confirm

For Android users, here’s how you can clear your phone:

  • Open the Google Chrome browser.
  • Tap the three vertical dots on the top right of the screen.
  • Select History > Clear Browsing Data.
  • Now check the box next to the items you wish to delete: Browsing History, Cookies and Site Data, and/or Cached Images and Files.
  • Tap the upside-down triangle next to “Time Range” to set the time frame you wish to delete; your choices range from the last hour to “All Time.”
  • Finally, tap the “Clear Data” button at the bottom of the screen to complete the process.
