iPhone Viruses: How To Remove

Here are the ways to remove iPhone viruses

iPhone Viruses – It is known that iPhones rarely have viruses but this cannot be avoided totally and here are the ways you can do to eliminate these unwanted stuff in your phone.

The fact that iPhone users can download apps only from Apple’s official App Store, is the main reason why it rarely has viruses, based on the article in Reader’s Digest. Attila Tomaschek, a digital privacy expert who has contributed research to ProPrivacy, a site focused on online security, said that the vetting process for the approval of third-party apps to be available for download on its App Store is also rigorous.

Another reason is that the iPhone apps are sandboxed. It means that these apps are isolated from other apps and the phone’s operating system. With this, the risk of contracting malware on their device is very minimal.

iPhones are less likely to get viruses but this is not impossible and there are two possible causes. Most likely, the virus will come from malicious malware and this could be from malicious apps that are typically downloaded from unofficial, third-party app stores.

The other reason is when you do jailbreak an iPhone and it is when you remove certain restrictions on the phone’s operating system. Having this set-up, the users are free to download apps from a variety of other app stores and not just from Apple’s official App Store.

How to check if your iPhone has viruses:

  • Look for suspicious apps by scanning your screens and if you see any apps that you don’t recognize then, that’s a red flag.
  • Check your data usage and you can do this by opening the Settings app, tap “Cellular”. Then, scroll down to “Cellular Data” to look at your data usage and you will see the total usage for the period, along with the apps that are using cellular data, including how much. If it is higher than usual or doesn’t match your actual data usage, then, it is a sign of a virus on your iPhone.
  • Check your phone bill because malware can send messages to premium services which will cause your monthly payment to spike. Call your service provider and ask what it’s from, if you see unfamiliar payments.
  • Look out for other warning signs because there could be warning signs for malware such as pop-ups that appear when you’re not using your browser, a quickly draining battery, and an overheating phone.
