Here are the other functions of iPhone Volume Buttons

The iPhone Volume Buttons has a lot of other features and not just the usual and known function of adjusting the volume of your mobile device.

Apple’s iPhone is one of the most popular cellular phones in the global market. Many people prefer to use this phone because of the features they like. However, there is more than just volume control in its volume buttons.

Based on the article in Mental Floss, here are some of the things you can do with your iPhone volume buttons.

Take photos, photo bursts, and videos

Open the Camera app and press either the volume button to take a photo or start a panorama and end it with another tap. This feature works with portrait, traditional photo, and panorama modes when shooting from the rear camera. The front camera can also take portrait and traditional photo modes. You can also hold the button down the entire time while taking the panorama.

This trick can also be done if you want to take videos. If you have iPhone XS, iPhone XR, or newer, you can press and hold the volume up button to take burst shots. You can have this option by setting up your phone. Go to Settings > Camera, then turn on “Use Volume Up for Burst.”

Scan documents

iPhones have built-in document scanners that will work in apps such as Files, Mail, Notes, and Reminders. Since the camera is being used to scan, you can press either volume button to snap a scan of the document instead of pressing the shutter button on the screen.

Alarm snooze and turn off

Just press either volume button to snooze your alarm. You should make sure you have the “Snooze” function enabled for that particular alarm.

To turn off the alarm you can do it by clicking either volume button, just make sure to have toggled off the “Snooze” option for your alarm.

Call emergency service

You can call emergency service without opening your phone. Just hold down the side lock button and either the volume button (or all three buttons) until the “Emergency Call” slider pops up. Then, swipe the SOS icon to the right to place the call.

Force restart

If you can’t restart your phone when it freezes, this might push you to complete a factory reset. To do this, you must press the volume up button, then the volume down button, then the side lock button until you see the Apple logo on a black background. When the lock screen appears, this means that a hard reset took place.

Turn off Face ID or Touch ID quickly

You can do this by pressing and holding the side lock button and either volume button for two seconds. Then a screen similar to when you’re calling emergency services will appear. Then, press the side button to immediately lock your iPhone.

Silence an incoming call

Press either volume button to silence an incoming regular call. You can also do this for FaceTime calls. Your phone will stop vibrating if its on vibrate mode.
