Mobile phone is a portable telephone used for communication and other essential purposes. It is part of the broader category of telecommunications devices and operates on a cellular network, which consists of interconnected base stations or cell towers.

Nowadays, cellphone has become an important part of our daily lives. It’s hard to imagine a time when these pocket-sized devices were primarily used for making calls and sending text messages.

The very first mobile phones were created as early as the 1940s as AT&T developed cells for mobile phone base stations. The very first phone were not really mobile phones because they were two-way radios allowing two people to communicate within the coverage area.

The concept of a portable phone dates back to the early 20th century, but it wasn’t until April 3, 1973, that Motorola engineer Martin Cooper made the first-ever handheld mobile phone call. It has a weight of about 2.2 pounds and resembling a brick.

Throughout the years, cellphones evolved to encompass features that were once unthinkable. Smartphones are equipped with high-resolution cameras, powerful processors and other user-friendly features.
