Here is the Rarest Eye Color in the world

Rarest Eye Color – What is the rarest color of the eyes and what is the genetics behind it? Here’s what you need to know.

The eyes are considered the window of the soul. Around the globe, there are several eye colors that people have. The eye color is determined by melanin, which produces hair, eye, and skin pigmentation. Iris, the colored part of the eye, is comprised of two layers, and they are called the epithelium in the back, and the stroma in the front.

The thin epithelium contains blackish-brown pigments while the stroma has varying amounts of a pigment called melanin. With the amount of melanin, the color of the eyes depends on this.

The most common eye color is brown, based on the article in Reader’s Digest. The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) said that reports suggested that 79 percent of people worldwide have some variation of brown eyes.

In the United States of America, almost half, or 45 percent of the population has brown eyes. It was said that this is an inherited trait that can be traced back to America’s early ancestors. AAO said that about 10,000 years ago, every human on earth had brown eyes

On the other hand, Purnima Patel, MD, an AAO clinical spokesperson and founder of Ophthalmology and Retina Associates of Georgia, said that no one brown eye looks like another, each is unique.

The next most popular eye color is blue. Dr. Patel said that these blue eyes are a more recent evolutionary occurrence. In America, 27 percent of the popular has blue eyes. This is mainly attributed to immigration from Germany, Scandinavia, England, Ireland, and Eastern Europe.

The rarest eye color is green. Only 2 percent of the population around the world have this eye color. Hazel is the second rarest eye color. It is a mixture of brown and green with golden flecks. About 5 percent of the world’s population has this eye color.

There can be a rare case that a person has violet eyes but they are really just a blue hue, with light bouncing off the surroundings and this makes the eyes violet.
